Amazon Pay expands insurance offerings with three new partners

Amazon Pay expands insurance offerings with three new partners

Amazon Pay has broadened its footprint in the vehicle insurance market, introducing partnerships with HDFC ERGO, ACKO, and ICICI Lombard to provide comprehensive coverage for India's nearly 280 million vehicle owners. This includes 250 million two-wheeler owners and 30 million car owners, offering a streamlined and accessible solution for vehicle insurance across the country.

Addressing Insurance Gaps in India

The expansion is a significant step toward addressing insurance gaps in India, where over 70% of registered two-wheelers remain uninsured. With this new initiative, Amazon Pay aims to reach customers not only in metropolitan areas but also in tier 2 and tier 3 cities like Coimbatore, Kota, Gwalior, Jamshedpur, Jhansi, Udupi, Sambalpur, Alwar, and Bharatpur. By extending its services to these regions, the platform seeks to improve access to financial safety nets for millions of road users.

Simplified and Digital Insurance Purchases

Amazon Pay's vehicle insurance offering simplifies the purchase process, allowing customers to complete the entire journey digitally via the Amazon app. By entering their vehicle registration number, choosing their preferred coverage level, and finalizing the purchase, users can secure insurance policies in mere minutes. For two-wheeler owners, no physical inspection of the vehicle is required, further speeding up the process.

The service also provides cashless claims processing at over 9,000 network garages across India, subject to policy terms. Customers can compare premiums from multiple insurers in one place and customize their coverage with add-ons as needed. Payments can be made using Amazon Pay balance, UPI, or saved payment cards, with cashback benefits available through Amazon Pay. Prime members are eligible for exclusive discounts on premiums offered by the partnering insurers.

Commitment to Innovation and Accessibility

In reflecting on this expansion, Vikas Bansal, CEO of Amazon Pay India, stated, "Amazon Pay strives to innovate for every Indian, simplifying lives and fulfilling aspirations by solving for their payment and financial needs. Our latest expansion of the vehicle insurance portfolio is a direct reflection of that commitment. With more than 70% of India's registered two-wheelers uninsured, we are focused on driving deeper insurance penetration into tier 2 and tier 3 cities where access has been limited. By partnering with India's most trusted insurers to bring a comprehensive cashless garage network, we are not just offering a service - we are providing a critical safety net for millions of road users and helping to build a more financially secure society."
